INTRODUCTION
Herbin Design is a sole proprietorship, founded by Ralph Herbin on February 6, 1992 as a professional commercial food facility consulting firm.
I began this company with seven years of experience in food service planning and design, and with extensive training and experience in Mechanical & Architectural Drafting and Computer-Aided-Design. Our project experiences include church kitchens and fellowship halls, school kitchens and cafeterias, restaurants and bars, profession and college athletic facility concessions, prison kitchens, and rethermalization facilities.
Herbin Design’s objective is to plan and design food service facilities in such a manner as to produce layouts, which maximize the operational efficiency of the space allocated. Our goal is to select equipment and materials that require efficient capital investment, low maintenance and minimum sanitation effort. Our working attitude is to cooperate in a joint effort with other disciplines to meet schedules, budgets and owner expectations. We produce written specifications and construction documents which include mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in drawings and custom equipment elevations and section drawings. Drawings are accurately produced using AutoCAD and are made available on plotted media or computer disk; written specifications are available on either printed or digital media.
After design projects have been awarded to contractors, our construction administration responsibilities include reviewing submittals and M-E-P rough-in drawings, jobsite M-E-P rough-in verification before sub floor pouring, and kitchen equipment final inspections.
We use AutoCAD on IBM-compatible computer systems. For budget estimating we use AutoQuotes food equipment estimating/quoting software. Written specifications are prepared with Microsoft Word and can be converted to the other word processor formats. Through the use of e-mail we can transfer documents rapidly.
Regular participation in design seminars, equipment manufacturing tours and trade shows and conferences help us to maintain current knowledge of design theories & techniques and technical resources. We will be happy to meet with you at your convenience to discuss the professional services offered.
